Not much is known about Xander Veitch except that he had once developed strong feelings for Fox but those feelings were not mutual. In response to being rejected, he became obsessed and found a way to cross over and control his dreams. There he found himself in Gan Adan, and became a soldier for Rath. His mission was to capture Fox and deliver her to Rath. He did so by using Mina Abrams and Daisy Peterson's box.  When he realized he had lost, he returned to Trobathia to persuade Abrams to chase after Peterson, knowing Rath would soon collect. It is believed that Rath killed him.
